What is a Raspberry?

A raspberry is a type of edible fruit that comes from the raspberry plant, a type of perennial plant that features woody stems. Raspberries are grown around the world in temperate regions as a commercial crop that features many uses and health benefits. Most of world's raspberry population comes from Europe where the top three international producers are Russia, Poland, and Serbia with the United States as the 4th largest producer.

The vitamins contained in one serving of raspberries include vitamin C (54% DV), vitamin K (12% DV), folate (6% DV), vitamin E (5% DV), and niacin (4% DV). One serving of raspberries also includes the following minerals: manganese (41% DV), magnesium (7% DV), copper (6% DV), iron (5% DV), and potassium (5% DV). Raspberries also contain a high level of dietary fiber, with one serving providing 32% of the DV for dietary fiber.

Aid Weight-Loss: raspberries offer the perfect nutritional content to include in a diet with the ultimate goal being to lose weight. One-cup of raspberries contain 1.5-grams of protein, 9-grams of dietary fiber, and just over 14-grams of carbs. They are also free of cholesterol, low in sodium and fats, and only have 60-calories per cup. The high dietary fiber content helps speed the body's digestion process to increase the speed of elimination, both of which can aid in weight loss. Raspberries also feature a sweet, tangy taste that can substitute to fulfill cravings for unhealthier snacks and treats. 

Relieve Arthritis: raspberries are known to combat inflammation as well as fight the conditions that cause inflammation. Raspberries act in the same way thtat aspirin and ibuprofen do when it comes to fighting inflammation, by turing off the signals sent by the body's enzymes (COX-1s and COX-2s) that are responsible for initiating the body's inflmmatory response. Researchers believe that the water-soluble plant pigments that give ranspberries its bright color is responsible for the fruit's anti-inflammatory characteristics.

When it comes to berries and antioxidant capabilities, studies have shown raspberries to have roughly the same amount of antioxidant capabiltiies of the much popular blueberries.

Raspberry ketone is a very popular product when it comes to dieting and weight loss. Although it may very well be extremely effective when it comes to weight loss, not enough research has been completed to confirm or deny the claims associated with raspberry ketone. A common belief is that raspberry ketone is very effective in aiding weight loss when combined with regular exercise and a healthy diet. Just like the overall study of raspberry ketone, no one truly knows if this claim is true although it is important to know that regular exercise and a healthy diet can aid weight loss and overall health without the rapsberry ketone.
